RGU Graduates are Top of the Class with UK Employers

Recently released government figures show that Robert Gordon University (RGU) has strengthened its long-established record for graduate employment by becoming the top university for graduate jobs in the UK.

Statistics from HESA (Higher Education Statistics Agency) released on 5 July show that 97.1% of students graduating from RGU with their first degree in 2010/11 were in employment or undertaking further study. The figures compare favourably with the average for Scottish and UK universities which were 93% and 90% respectively.

Professor Ferdinand von Prondzynski, Principal of RGU, welcomed the results. "The University attaches great importance to its relationship with employers to understand what they require from our graduates. We work closely with employers at all stages of the student journey, from course development and accreditation to providing scholarships and work-based placements and experiences. Our aim is to produce graduates that employers want."

During their studies RGU students can access careers advice, find out about graduate opportunities and develop career management skills and this support continues after graduation. This service helps give students the edge when it comes to finding employment.

Christine Buchanan, Dean of Students at RGU said, "It is particularly significant that our graduates find quality jobs with the vast majority of RGU first degree graduates being employed in traditional graduate occupational sectors."

The HESA employment indicator is based on the Destinations of Leavers in Higher Education (DLHE) survey and expresses the number of graduates who say they are working or studying (or both) as a percentage of all those who are working or studying or seeking work.
