Partnership increases RGU’s global recognition

Robert Gordon University's (RGU) Aberdeen Business School has launched its MBA in Energy Business in collaboration with the University of Vaasa, Finland, further enhancing its international reputation as a leading business school.

The programme, whose first cohort consists mostly of Finnish students, is delivered via distance learning and supported by workshops taught in Finland by RGU lecturers.

Modules include Energy Marketing; Financial and Management Accounting; Leadership, Communication and Change Management; and Renewable Energy Management amongst others. Upon graduation, successful students will receive their MBA in Energy Business from RGU, which will prove invaluable not only in the rapidly expanding Finnish energy sector but also in the global energy industry.

Bryan McNay, MBA Energy Business Programme leader at RGU said: "The programme represents a significant move to enable RGU to develop its existing oil and gas management capabilities into the wider energy sector.

"There is an opportunity, through the students on the programme, to establish a relationship between Aberdeen and Vaasa - a recognised industrial centre for the developing energy industry in Finland.

"The partnership further drives RGU towards European and global excellence within the energy sector and we will continue to work closely with Vaasa to co-ordinate delivery and further cement our relationship."

The announcement of the collaboration comes shortly after Rita Marcella, Dean of Aberdeen Business School, last month signed a joint venture contract on behalf of RGU with the Hochschule Fresenius University of Applied Sciences (HSF) in Idstein, Germany, for the delivery of its MBA Transport Strategy and Management course.

The University of Vaasa is a multidisciplinary University offering degrees at all academic levels from Bachelor's to Doctor's. The strong focus on high quality business education since the formation of the Vaasa Business School in 1968 has proved a successful strategy. University of Vaasa departments have been recognized as national centres of excellence both in adult education and management education by the Finnish Ministry of Education.
