Local professional couple support Graduate in Residence programme at Grays School of Art

Mr and Mrs Robinson decided to support the Graduate in Residence scheme because they had been so impressed with the quality of students' work. Mike Hughes, who is currently receiving financial support from the Robinsons as a current painting Graduate in Residence shares the impact that their support has had:

"Their financial support gives me the ability to give the residency the time and attention it requires to be successful. Painting is extremely time consuming as well as being expensive. Without the funding I would struggle to produce something worthwhile in the time available.

"The point at which students are reaching their final year and the period that follows are a delicate time. That extra bit of support can be enough to make sure a young artist reaches their full potential."

Of the Robinsons, Mike says: "It's great to see people like the Robinson's supporting artists and recognising that they have the ability to effect culture without necessarily being artists themselves. For that I am grateful".
