Inverness Student Overcomes Illness to Graduate with Distinction

Louise Henry from Inverness graduated at 10.30am on Tuesday 12 July with a Masters in Pharmacy.

Louise HenryLouise (22) attended Charleston Academy in Inverness where she realised that she wanted to work in healthcare after being inspired by a local pharmacist where she undertook work experience. She said, “I realised that I wanted to help make people better and as a pharmacist you are easily accessible. That really appealed to me.”

Louise chose to study at RGU but was hospitalised with suspected meningitis during her studies. Fortunately it wasn’t meningitis but she missed here exams and was then diagnosed with gallstones which required an operation. Although she missed some time at university she managed to catch up. She credits the support of her family and long term partner Tim as a major reason for her graduating today with a distinction.

Following graduation Louise will be undertaking her pre-registration year with Boots the Chemist in Inverness.  Louise said, “I’m really looking forward to putting my education into practice and ultimately would like to become a non-medical prescriber so that I can help improve patient care and access to healthcare for individuals.
