International Futsal Tournament

RGU:Union will hold an International Futsal Tournament today.RGU SPORT sign

The tournament is being run in association with Aberdeen Football Club and the Scottish Football Association and is open to all students.

Futsal is a variant of football played on a smaller field and with a smaller ball which has less bounce. There is no offside rule, which should lead to plenty of goals.

If Futsal isn’t your thing, there are a range of sports clubs to choose from at RGU. This includes sports such as Athletics, Badminton, Cheerleading and Dance, Football, Golf, Handball, Karate, Rowing and many more. Why not take a look and see if there are any you would like to get involved with?

Benefits of joining a sports club

There are many benefits of joining a sports club and these include meeting new people, socialising and keeping fit and healthy. There are over 30 to choose from and if there is nothing you fancy, you can get help to set a new one up.

Sports clubs train on various days and times throughout the week, with most matches and competitive action taking place on a Wednesday afternoon, which tends to be kept free from classes.

The clubs use the great facilities at RGU SPORT to train. The top of the range facilities include a state-of-the-art gym, a 25 meter pool, a climbing wall and a sports hall. They offer a range of memberships to suit everyone and there is also the benefit of discounts for current students and alumni.

Annual sporting events also take place. This includes the RGU SPORT Awards Ball, The Granite City Challenge, which is the largest varsity competition in Scotland with RGU battling the University of Aberdeen in over 20 sports, and the Aberdeen Asset Management Aberdeen Universities Boat Race which RGU has won for the last five years.
