Research and Evidence Based Practice in Midwifery SCQF level 9; SCQF points 30; ECTS points 15
This course will enable students to appraise and use research and evidence in order to facilitate normal birth.
The course will equip students with the ability to make decisions on the best care options for women, babies and their families, ensuring that women are central to the process. Successful completion of this module will enable students to access study at Masters Level.
2. What you will study
Course Content - Evidence based practice processes, sources of research and evidence, guidelines, literature review, systematic reviews, clinical and shared decision making, intuition, uncertainty, change management, leadership, care philosophies, women centred care, social models of care, partnerships, research governance, political and professional agendas, health policies, audit, evaluating process and outcomes, getting research into practice, normal physiological birth, complementary therapies.
3. Entry Requirements
This course is open to registered midwives.
