Master of Architecture Portfolio Advice
The discipline of architecture combines art with science. It is fundamentally a creative discipline requiring imagination, vision artistic skills and aesthetic sensibilities, accordingly applicants to the course are asked to demonstrate their aptitude by either certification of this skill or in the preparation of a Portfolio.
Whilst we recognise that applicants may not be able to take a specific qualification like Art, we do offer students the opportunity to submit a portfolio demonstrating their artistic skills as part of the process.
Not all applicants will be required to prepare a portfolio but, for applicants requested to submit a portfolio as a condition of entry, we have prepared an example of a first year Architecture admission portfolio which can be used as guidance in compiling your portfolio. It shows a good range of skills, importantly sketching and free hand drawing. You can, of course, change the format of the presentation, but this is deemed to be a good example for this purpose:
