Key Duties and Responsibilities

eLearning support: assisting with the design and development of technology enhanced Engineering courses, both for full time and online distance learning, specifically in relation to the development and implementation of multimedia contents, classroom digital technologies, virtual learning environment, and online interactive activities and assessments.

CampusMoodle VLE support: assisting academic staff and administrators to setting up modules, implementing templates, assigning user roles, uploading and updating materials, organizing forum and implementing quiz activities, trouble-shooting, etc.

Software support: advising staff and students on engineering software licensing, training, and technical issues; utilising Citrix Thin Client technology to deliver software education; organizing demonstration and providing online support.

Networking: participating in eLearning meetings and events within the institution or externally, undertaking active collaboration to pursue a shared interest; building relationships and contacts to facilitate future exchange of information; liaison with software vendors and RGU ITS to keep up-to-date software applications and license; liaison with RGU Library to keep up-to-date resource and database subscriptions.

Teaching materials development support: assisting academic staff in MS-Office documents designing and editing, audio and video lecture capturing and editing, animation Flash design and interactive contents development, and publishing using Articulate and Adobe Creative Suite etc.

Research Interests / Professional Background

Miki completed a PhD in Computer Science in 2007. Her thesis title is "Using the Organizational and Narrative Structures of e-Books to Support Comprehension". This thesis addresses the problem of providing readers with effective scaffolding of multiple structures of ane-Book in the user interface to support reading for comprehension.
