Duties and Responsibilities
Dr Leon Moller is a lecturer in Oil and Gas Law specialising in Maritime Law, Oil and Gas Law and Oil and Gas Contract Law at UK and International level.
Other responsibilities include;
- Supervising PhD and LLM research
- Mentoring junior colleagues
- Convener of the Law Staff Research Seminars
- Examiner (University of Dundee (LLM/MSC Programmes on Energy, Arbitration, International petroleum, Downstream Energy, Oil and Gas Law, Mineral Law)
- PhD Examiner (Aberdeen University; Dundee University; RGU)
Dr Moller is a member of the Law School Research Group; the Governance & Society and Business & Enterprise theme research groups within Aberdeen Business School. His research interests are on maritime law, international law of the sea, energy and natural resources law including oil and gas law, decommissioning of oil and gas installations, oil and gas contracts, legal risk in oil and gas transactions, international environmental law and contract and commercial law.
He is interested in supervising on all areas within his research interests, but particularly interested in applications in the following topic areas:
- The regulatory and policy context surrounding unconventional oil and gas projects
- Transboundary extraction of oil and gas reserves
- Development of transboundary resources
- Governance of natural resources
- Challenges and developments in the law of the sea / maritime law
- Legal aspects of dry and wet shipping
- Legal developments and regulation of offshore resources
Leon is currently principal supervisor for the following doctoral research students – Dorothy Bassey, Karen Doyle, Victor Azubike, Jamilu Mohammed.
