Connect via ResearchGatePamela began her established career in education at RGU as a lecturer in nursing and then course leader in the School of Nursing & Midwifery. Her teaching spanned across undergraduate and post graduate courses that were focussed on developing education for CPD, remote healthcare education, advanced practice, leadership and quality improvement. Her teaching role now includes Honours and Masters teaching and dissertation supervision.

She worked in the role of Academic Lead for Enterprise in Health and Social Care supporting the commercial and entrepreneurial activity of nursing and the allied health professions at faculty level. This involved leading on local, national and international business facing activity and managing and developing a variety of projects from enquiry, negotiation, through to project delivery and evaluation. This included working with clients in the public/ private sector, hospitals, Oil, Gas & renewable industry, academic institutions and SME businesses.  As a result, Pamela has travelled extensively on behalf of the University in pursuit of partnership and business interests in the Middle East, Australia and Asia. Her current role, as the Academic Team Lead for Internationalisation is to advance the international strategy of the School to recruit, support and develop international student cohorts in partnership with our Navitas partner College. Having successfully established cohorts of international students over the last four years we now attract students to the adult, mental health and children and young people’s nursing courses from 10 countries.

As Deputy Director of the Scottish Centre for Evidence-based, Multi-professional Practice: A Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) Centre of Excellence, Pamela is also involved in delivering comprehensive systematic review training and working with teams undertaking systematic reviews and developing the methodology for mixed-methods reviews.  She has published widely on topics including medication error, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), dementia, chronic low back pain, clinical competencies, skills fade, working with translators, breast-feeding and falls prevention.

Pamela has recently completed a PhD on the employment experiences of people with COPD and has extensively published and presented research at national and international conferences.  She is a peer-reviewer for several healthcare journals and an honorary examiner for the Faculty of Health Sciences in the University of Adelaide.  Pamela has completed several external examiner roles with Middlesex University, Kingston University and St Georges, and The University West of Scotland.
