Professional Background

After qualifying with a Diploma in Social Work and BA in Social Work at RGU Angela worked in the voluntary sector as a Centre Manager for a drop-in centre for the mental health service user group. During this period of time she was an active member on several committees linked to mental health and provided training workshops. She went on to teach at Aberdeen College for the Higher National Diploma in Social Work and as an SVQ Assessor and was employed as a Practice Teacher for RGU.  Angela has experience of working with the older person service user group.

Angela joined RGU in January 2002 as a Practice Teacher and Placement coordinator for The Scottish Institute for Residential Child Care (SIRCC).  During which time she was also involved in teaching for the Undergraduate, Post Graduate and Distance Learning Social Work programmes. In December 2009 she transferred to a new post as a full time lecturer and was placed with the Distance Learning team.

At present Angela is a Tutor for the distance learning course, Module coordinator and Stage 2 Tutor for the Distance Learning team, involved in teaching and module coordinating. Angela is also a member of the Careers Involvement Network.

Angela has undertaken post-qualification training and has achieved a D32/33, City and Guilds Certificate in Teaching Adult Learners (Stage One), Practice Teaching Award, Post Graduate in Higher Education Learning and Teaching and a Post Graduate Certificate in Research Methods.
