Gareth Haining graduated with a BSC (Hons) in Diagnostic Radiography from RGU in 2001. He began his career in Ninewells Hospital, Dundee and became a Practice Educator the following year.
In 2004 Gareth gained a PGcert in Health Improvement and Promotion at RGU and added part-time Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), to his role within Ninewells.
In 2006 Gareth took up a full time role in MRI research with the University of Aberdeen. He gained experience in cancer imaging, cardiac MRI, functional MRI and positional MRI. During this time Gareth gained a PGcert, in MRI from The Anglia Ruskin University. Gareth took up post as MRI Superintendent Radiographer at NHS Grampian in 2008, working at Woodend General Hospital, where he gained further experience in management and clinical MRI and at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, where he managed the increasing need for complex and clinically urgent imaging.
In 2016 and 2017 Gareth acted as an external Lecturer in MRI at RGU and took up his current post as Lecturer in Diagnostic Radiography at RGU in Aug 2018. Professional interests include leadership and management in the clinical setting, MRI sequence and protocol development, Urological MRI and Cardiac MRI.
