Martyn is a lecturer in the Accounting and Finance department and teaches Corporate Ethics, Taxation and Financial Forecasting.

Martyn’s research focuses on international tax and accounting regulation and corporate transparency.

Duties and Responsibilities

Martyn is year tutor for 3rd year students on the BA (Hons) Accounting and Finance degree

  • BS4214 Corporate and Capital Taxes (the economics of tax)

Research Interests

International tax law, corporate transparency and the manifestation of tax and accounting law in practice

Current Research

Martyn is undertaking a part time PhD investigating the stakeholder input into the OECD’s BEPS Action Plan.

Martyn is also undertaking research into fiscal transparency in the extractives sector in collaboration with Louise Crawford (Newcastle University), Jim Haslam (Sheffield University) and Eleni Chatzivgeri (Heriot Watt). Most recent investigations include collaboration with European and Scandinavian academics and activists as part of the STAR collective, conducting a review of the manifestation in practice of Chapter 10 of the EU Accounting directive across the EU and EEA.
