Academic and Professional Background

Dr.Nadimul Faisal is a Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering at the School of Engineering of the Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen, UK. He is an experimental researcher and work in the field of mechanical & materials engineering, with focus on Micromechanics (instrumented experiments, simulations). With the current academic roles and associated responsibilities, he is working independently and at the same time establishing collaborative research and teaching programmes. He teaches various modules in BEng/MEng courses at various levels related to Mechanical and Offshore Engineering and supervises interdisciplinary graduate students (taught/research, e.g. MSc, MRes, PhD). He obtained scholarship and earned PhD (Mechanical Engineering) in 2010 from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh through research on 'Acoustic Emission Analysis for Quality Assessment of Thermally Sprayed Coatings' under the joint supervision of Prof. Bob Reuben, Dr. Rehan Ahmed and Prof. Iain Steel. During his PhD studies he developed an acoustic emission (AE) based instrumented indentation technique to understand the micromechanical behaviour of variety of engineering materials. He earned distinction in BSc Engineering (Mechanical) in 2001 from MACET, Magadh University in Bihar, India. He has experience in several industrial consultancies and funded projects.
