Sylvie Davies is Associate Lecturer in Information Management and Librarianship at the School of Creative and Cultural Business.
Her original background is in languages with degrees in German and Mandarin Chinese, followed more recently by MSC studies in Information and Library Studies. Her teaching areas include controlled vocabularies, taxonomies and bibliographic classification.
Her research interests lie in the area of cross-cultural communication (at national and corporate level) of organised knowledge with a focus of multilingual and multicultural thesauri. Locally, she has been involved in aspects of information management in the oil and gas industry via the delivery of taxonomy workshops and cross-industry forum discussion on the role of information management professionals in that industry.
