Research Interests / Professional Background

David’s current research interests lie in exploring distributed generative and interactive sound compositions on mobile devices influenced by data collection and encounter.

Originally trained in Computing, he went on to obtain an MSc in Operational Research, subsequently lecturing in Computer Science. His growing interest in multimedia computing led him into design and since 2000 he has been lecturing at Grays School of Art in Digital Media and Communication Design. He has always been deeply interested in music and is fascinated by contemporary, experimental, improvisational, electronic and jazz music, with a particular interest in computer-generated music.

David participated in the Sounding Drawing 2012 project (exhibition and workshops) and has produced videos to document this project.

He is also interested in 3D CGI applications in design.
