Vice President for Latin America at Baker Hughes based in Mexico
Mario Aufiero was brought up in a small town in Italy and moved to the UK straight from high school. Having learnt English Mario went on to complete a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) at Robert Gordon University in 2006. Today Mario has worked his way up to Vice President for Latin America at Baker Hughes based in Mexico.
"When I was learning English I took on a part-time job for Hughes Tool Co. and went on to undertake a Business Studies degree in International Trade. Following on from this I completed my MBA while working for Baker Hughes, travelling with my books and catching up on study during long haul flights.
"Baker Hughes is a leader in the Oil and Gas Service industry that develops and applies technologies for exploration, development and production of hydrocarbons. I began working in London for them but quickly moved to the Middle East prior to returning to Italy to manage the Mediterranean area. Following that I moved to Aberdeen as Regional Manager for Med-Africa. Today I am Vice President for Baker Hughes (BOT - Completions Technologies Business segment) in Latin America.
"My job brings diversity with everyday presenting something new. I like the objectives, having stretched goals and drive to achieve. I manage the profit and loss, striving for added value and increased return for shareholders. Working life and following an international career is not easy, but it can be very rewarding professionally and financially. Hard work and commitment is what it takes."
