Professor James Paul
Studied at the school between 1947 – 1953
James’ career involved working on a number of Scottish architectural projects including Aberdeen and Edinburgh Airport, Duncan of Jordanstone College Dundee and Dens Park Football Stadium, Dundee. He also had a long career as an academic at the Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in Dundee, where he built up the Department of Architecture. Notably, the School’s alumni include 3 current heads of UK schools of architecture.
“My architectural education in Aberdeen was extraordinary having been in the first intake of students being allowed to commence study before undertaking National Service and therefore included a mix of mature and focused ex-servicemen of varying ages. New resources were becoming available and Architectural books were being published and eagerly awaited and studied. The prevailing feeling was that we were entering a brave new world with unlimited opportunities.”
