For me embarking on the LLM in Employment Law and Practice marked a return to formal study after a significant period of time away from studying.

As an HR professional it was an opportunity to enhance and consolidate my employment law knowledge and experience as well as boosting my personal confidence and credibility in the subject matter.   Very quickly into the course I was able to put aspects of my learning into practice in my work - both in the way I approach and analyse cases and how I give advice and apply my organisation’s policies.

There is no doubt that the course requires a significant time and energy commitment which can be challenging if you also have a busy job.  However the course is well structured and I found the subjects enjoyable and thought provoking.  Ultimately this motivated me to spend the time to get the most out of the learning materials provided as well as undertaking my own further research and investigation in to the subjects.   I particularly enjoyed learning more around the human rights aspects of employment law and legal requirements on trade unions which has given me a new perspective on issues that I commonly deal with.  Interactions with fellow students and lecturers also made for interesting discussions and debates particularly when discussing the merits of the law or particular judicial decisions.

I am so pleased I chose to do the course and enjoyed the whole experience from start to finish.  I would highly recommend to those looking for a qualification and solid grounding in Employment Law.
