Top Up Course (incorporating CIMA Advanced Diploma)
Top-up option for students at Wisdom Business Academy in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
Robert Gordon University has entered into a collaboration agreement with Wisdom Business Academy to enable the delivery of this unique Top-up, providing WBA students with the benefit of academic experience and expertise of both Wisdom and RGU staff.
Currently this Top-up option is exclusive to students of Wisdom Business Academy in Sri Lanka, where it can be studied on campus, in the country.
At RGU students who already have the CIMA Advanced Diploma in Management Accounting can gain a BSc degree through the Top-up option. The online BSc Accounting with CIMA Advanced Diploma offers the unique opportunity to gain a degree alongside part of the professional CIMA qualification. The course includes the Top-up option for those students already holding the professional qualification and is normally studied by online distance learning.
2. What you will study
You will complete seven modules for the BSc Accounting (with CIMA Advanced Diploma) top up option. However, the level of input into these varies and as such they are best considered in three groups:
These modules are 'Assessment Led' modules and there is no new theory to learn. However, you are given set coursework (one or two pieces per module to be submitted online) on material which you have already studied for the CIMA Advanced Diploma. This material would typically be an essay or a report.
To achieve the Practical Management Accounting module, you just need to show us that you have 6 months of work experience in a field relevant to Management Accounting.
The above modules are of a traditional style and you will be taught the academic content for these modules. The modules are all assessed by coursework submitted to the University and by looking at the individual module descriptors you will be able to consider the relevant content.
Exit Award: BSc Accounting (with CIMA Advanced Diploma)
3. How you will learn
The collaboration that RGU has established together with Wisdom Business Academy means that students at WBA will learn in a classroom environment.
All of the teaching material is housed on the Robert Gordon University’s virtual learning system Campus Moodle ensuring students have easy access to learning needs as well as different communication tools. Timetables for classroom sessions will be set by Wisdom Business School and all coursework will be submitted to the university through our online Moodle system.
The Top-up option for the degree course enables students to gain the additional skills of research, reflection and critical analysis – and the use of the resources available on the University online library will benefit students in this manner.
