Social Worker

Social workers support the individuals and groups within society who may experience social exclusion or crisis. Working within a legal framework of policies and procedures, a social worker will typically be involved in a range of tasks.

On a daily basis you may conduct interviews with service users to review their situation, offering information and advice to them and their families. You will also work with other health and social care staff across multidisciplinary teams, such as mental health and child protection.

Typical salary: £28,000 - £35,000

Residential Care Social Workers

You will work with vulnerable residents who reside in residential and care homes, hostels, adult and youth centres. The clients may have a range of support needs including drugs and alcohol dependency, mental health issues or disability. The work you do will very much depend on your clients' individual needs, but tasks might include advising residents, liaising with families and organising social activities.

Typical salary: £19,600 - £29,000
