A native of Newcastle-upon-Tyne Roger Ramshaw graduated with an MA degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Cambridge and enjoyed a career in the Oil & Gas industry both in the United Kingdom and internationally. He is currently the independent director on the board of Repsol Sinopec Resources UK Limited and a trustee of the Grampian Autistic Society.
After graduation he first worked with Shell International in the Netherlands, Malaysia and Brunei and then joined Heriot Watt University as a founding member of the Institute of Engineering which was instrumental in establishing their Institute of Petroleum Engineering in 1975.
With the Conoco Group he has experienced all aspects of petroleum exploration, project development and production, working and managing in the UK, USA, Norway, UAE and Venezuela. Latterly he was President of Conoco Venezuela from 1999 to 2002 and then Chairman and Managing Director of ConocoPhillips (UK) Limited until his retirement in 2004. He attended the Sloan School of Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology graduating in 1990 with an MS in Management.
He is an avid reader, enthusiastic cyclist and hill-walker.
