Douglas is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Engineering and Director of the Professional Studies programme within the School.

Douglas RobertsonHe has held a number of responsibilities including course leadership, commercialisation, marketing and as placement co-ordinator. In 2008 he collaborated with the IMechE to introduce the first collaborative Monitored Professional Development scheme in the UK. The scheme continues successfully to serve local industry as a route to professional registration for mechanical engineers.

Douglas has played a significant role in taking the University’s Mechanical Engineering courses from endangered status to their current standing among the most highly rated in the UK.

His academic interests centre round Reservoir & Production Engineering. One of his students was recently a winner in the prestigious Energy Institute Student Paper Competition. He is currently one of the judges in the SPE European Regional Student Paper Contest - to be held in London this year, with the finalists progressing to the International Student Paper Contest in Amsterdam this October.
