RGU Rainbow Network aims to improve the experience of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender staff at RGU.

Founded in 2014, the staff network empowers LGBT+ staff to meet, share information, provide support and through establishing a visible presence on campus ensures that the university remains a vibrant and inclusive environment in which all staff can reach their full potential without the fear of discrimination.

What does LGBT+ Mean?

LGBT+ stands for Lesbian, Gay Bisexual, Transgender. The’+’ covers all other types of sexual and gender identities.

Who is the network for?

The Network is open to all staff of all sexual orientations and gender identities. We welcome those who do not identify as LGBT+ but would like to show their support for the LGBT+ community by being an ally.

Are you a Student?

We welcome Postgraduate and Research students join the staff network. There is also an RGU LGBT+ Student Society+ which is open to all undergraduate and postgraduate students.

What do we do?

We meet regularly and promote our events through the Bulletin, IntranetFacebook and via our mailing list. To join the mailing list please email lgbtstaffnetwork@rgu.ac.uk.

Coffee on Campus

Coffee on campus will take place on the following dates:  Tuesday 25 September, Wednesday 24 October, Tuesday 20 November, Thursday 13 December, Tuesday 22nd January, Tuesday 20 February, Wednesday 20 March, Thursday 18 April, Tuesday 7 May and Thursday 20 June.

 


 

Straight Allies

A straight ally or heterosexual ally is a heterosexual and cisgender person who supports equal civil rights, gender equality, LGBT social movements, and challenges homophobia, biphobia and transphobia. In session 2017-18 the staff network will work to recruit a straight ally from the Executive group and from RGU Staff to actively support the initiatives led by the LGBT+ Staff Network

Rainbow Lanyards - Show your Pride #PrideonCampus

The University will purchase rainbow lanyards with the University logo on to promote LGBT+ Pride at RGU. These will be issued to staff or students who either identify as LGBT+ or are a straight ally. If you would like a lanyard please email lgbtstaffnetwork@rgu.ac.uk
